Manic Mondays
Its Monday morning (insert flabbergasted emoji).
"How is it Monday again? I swear it was Monday like yesterday" becomes a recurring thought as the struggle continues and you feel like the precious weekend slipped past your fingers like a liquid thats runs straight through.
How does one deal with Mondays? If you resonate with Andy Saachs (aka Anne Hathaway on The Devil Wears Prada) and are eager to please and rise up on any corporate ladder, this is for you.
1) Make Your Sanity a Priority
Sleep is essential, but the more vital element to start on a good note is your invaluable sanity. Make sure to wake up an extra hour or two to avoid stressful situations. An added bonus to perk up your day is your early morning fix - a great cup of coffee, anyone? - before joining the rush hour commute.
A nourishing breakfast of smoothie bowls or if you have that extra half an hour, an English Breakfast, always does the trick. Do not go to work on an empty stomach because you will be distractedly salivating at your desk and painfully counting down to lunch hour.
2) Get Active Early
Exercise always gets me going. After a good run or a cardio sesh, I'm ready to take on any task. That blood rush of endorphins really sets the mood and revs you up for the day. Everything is brighter, cheerier and if I might add, easier to take on.
3) Mellow Down The Night Before
Sundays are my favourite days of the week. Saturdays are perfect for socialising but Sundays should be easy and lazy. End off the day with a relaxing round of yoga, and if you want to take it up a notch, meditate. It is the best way to check in with your body and unwind the constant activity your brain has had to endure the entire week to get those optimal eight hours of rest you need.
4) Load Up on Oil
Being sleep-deprived is never pretty. This is when you can tell if that $200 moisturiser or the newest serum on the block actually lives up to its claims. Personally, facial serums or oils always help restore the life back to my grey zombie appearance. Tata Harper does a wonderful one packed full of antioxidants like elderberry and alfalfa for oxygenation. Other notable mentions include Kiehl's Daily Reviving Concentrate, Rodin Olio Lusso, Sunday Riley Luna and Aurelia Probiotic Cell Repair Night Oil. Try to invest in one that has a good mix of active ingredients.
5) Plan Ahead
When you get up and time is of the essence, the last thing I want to do is stress over my outfit options. Since my university days, visualising my outfit the night before has been a real lifesaver. Dressing up literally takes all of five minutes and a well-thought out outfit can make you feel like the wonder woman that we all aspire to be.
Time to slay the day with your best face forward to impress your very own Miranda Priestly.
Leave in the comments how manic your Mondays get and what you do to combat this terrible affliction.
